Reviews

  • That’s DLR on vocals?

Sorry, but the vocals are so awful I thought I accidentally bought a Van Hagar album. Very disappointing.
  • Roth ruins every song

Now that Eddie Van Halen is gone it’s hard to believe they went out with Roth the last three tours of their existence because this is the middle of those three tours and he’s already terrible. VH needed to eat crow and get Sammy/Mike back. For a much better live album from 2015 check out Sammy Hagar & The Circle “At Your Service”

My first real rock concert was seeing Van Halen on the 1984 tour. I saw Dave on the Eat Em And Smile tour. Diamond Dave, back in the day, you were THE MAN. Sadly, those days are long gone. This sounds like a drunk doing karaoke to a bootleg Van Halen instrumental show. I love ya man, but it’s over.
  • Simply Thee Worst Live Album Ever

Everything from the mix, the strained/off key vocals and the pomp & circumstance are wrong here. VH are undoubtedly a great band, but this live record doesn’t do them or their talents justice.

    Sorry but he can’t sing.
  • Real Live Album

This album is actually a LIVE album.. Raw Rock and Roll, baby. Most live albums are frauds.. Sammy admitted that he re-recorded ALL of the vocals in studio for Live: Right Here, Right Now. Yeah, Dave's vocals are not remotely like the album versions, but they chose to go honest over studio fakery. It is what it is. At least Eddie was sober this tour...and that shows!
  • Um OK.

To whoever titled their review “c’mon Dave, gimmie a break”....spot on! Dave has always frustrated me with his live vocals. He never sang the songs well on stage. He would leave out entire lines, skip words, etc. and he just wasn't a good vocalist but his stage presence is what he was about. Sammy with Van Halen live was a different story. The quality of the vocal performances were reminiscent of the recorded studio efforts. The 3 stars are for the rest of the band being tight and of course Maestro Edward (RIP😔). Sadly Dave eats the other 2 stars. Lol.
  • Whole Band Sounds Awesome

This is from a music lover from all genres. The sound of the band is tremendous in this live album. DLR has its moments but he sounds very good on this project. Probably the best vocals I heard from him since his return to the band. Eddie, Alex, Wolf sound excellent and this is well worth the money.
  • Less Dave, More Sammy

David Lee Roth was absolutely brutal here. He was never the greatest singer, he was the perfect frontman, but that was 40 years ago. The rest of the band was great musically, but Roth's vocals brought it down. It would have been worse if he had attemted any of Sammy Hagar's songs. The last live album Sammy did sing some Roth's songs but they are a different style than how sings. But Sammy would have done a better job here. If Michael Anthony were here it would have been that much better.
  • They still sounded great
