  • Can anyone remind me how to get the taste of VOMIT out of your ears?

Emotionally, Spiritually and Psychologically constipated! Dude, just because you know lots of chords..... they’re supposed to flow so that they FLOW! Christ, keep you EGO and CONFUSION out of your crappy process! Yuck! AND out of my ears! STUPID “lyrics”.... Hasn’t listening to REAL music taught you anything about song structure? You’re trying to be Picasso without FIRST being PICASSO! Get over yourself and perhaps considering roofing or asphalt... Then while working a REAL JOB might give you time to pitch yourself off a metaphorical and metaphysical cliff somewhere. YUCK 🤢😷

How this guy can produce a jewel in True Love but utterly mess up so badly on all his others....

This was the first FJM album I have ever listened to and instantly loved his sound and style. I listened to this album a lot durning my first love and it means a great deal to me. It’s beautiful and human.

Just saw the man performing in Baltimore on Saturday. An egotistic showman with music that sounds like something you've heard before, and before, and before no matter which song he performed. Wondering if he knows how well he's hoodwinked gullible people into buying into this crap.

What an exquisite sound and voice, very original & unique! (: Do not listen to those negative, ignorant people writing nasty reviews! I have stumbled thousands and thousands of tracks in my life, from new to old, indie, classic and the world between other worlds, believe me when I say that this artist is unique and original, he's not a copycat like those pre formulated music you hear everywhere, (everyone' copies each other). This is NOT your typical mainstream fabricated crap (when big labels are behind), this is the real deal! Too bad too many people are brainwashed with super popular crap. Whatever happened to the days when Record companies wanted to discover the next real talent? Anyway .. Awesome work! Keep it coming. 😎🎶👍

But I'm really going for it in this review so read on!! I'm not a father John misty "fan". I heard some singles from him for the past few years and when I finally put it together that these songs were all from the same dude I decided I needed to sit down and hear what his music was about. So I listened to the first album and I didn't hate it; I enjoyed it the same way you would watch a movie that you liked but never would watch again. Like maybe I would listen to a couple songs off the album which is how I am w/most albums these days. Later on that evening as I was settling into bed I remembered he had one more so I decided to listen to it. I swear to god it was like swimming in honey. Everything works so well. I was laughing OUT LOUD and then at other times I was tearing up!! I don't even know who this dude is except that he was in fleet foxes. I'm not a music critic and I'm not a musician. But I know how to listen to music and I know nuances. I do NOT feel that this album is contrived in any way. I felt like spiritually, physically, cognitively and emotionally there is very lucidly communicated rough truths going on here.... In that way that makes you feel like someone is reading your mind. So when I got online and saw All the positive reviews it was kind of weird to realize I wasn't alone. I'm a year late to discovering this album!!! Gah. It reminds me of Brian Wilson/ beach boys/ psychedelic melodic amazing cinematic as far as music goes.... The vocals stand out but blend in, and so naturally and wonderfully flow with the musical melody... And then lyrically it's like he sat down and just word vomited this freaking incredible spoken word piece and then figured someway to perfectly blend with music. Y'all this is art. This is poetry. This is integrated music. I can believe my ears.

Until recently, I've only heard of this guy. I recently went to his live show, not knowing any of his music. I was immediately a fan of how good the band and songwriting was and how entertaining and over the top the performance was. His performance was fantastic. Since then, I've been listening to this album on repeat. The more I listen, the more I'm realizing how good this album really is. His interesting take musically and lyrically are very well done and amazingly inventive. Easily one of the most enjoyable albums I've heard from 2015. I will be going back to this one for a while. Well done, Father John Misty!
  • Maybe it’s a grower, but not bad.

I’m new to this guys music. I bought the CD version, and I really like the neat package the CD comes in. It’s very creative and fun. The music though, for me , the jury is still out. I first heard “Bored in the USA” and liked it before I bought the album. I mostly like the songs I think, but I’ll have to see how it goes with more listening. It may get at least 4 stars from me yet!
