  • Lots of hate for some reason

Crazy the amount of hate for this version. Is it the original? No. Should it be? No...why would anyone want an exact copy of another production? There are aspects I like a lot better in the original version, but this one shouldn’t be brushed aside so quickly. First: Our Little World is an amazing song, and I can’t believe it’s not included in more productions. It’s beautiful and gives more character development to both the witch and Rapunzel. Second: Hello Little Girl: this being more of a duet between two wolves is interesting, gives more of s creeper vibe. Third: While they cut my favorite line from last midnight and replaced it I think it still sounds amazing. I think Vanessa, Bernadette, and Meryl all have very different Interpretations of the song, and all three are amazing. Don’t fall into the closed minded theatre person trap and write this recording off...it’s a great listen, and the quality is super clear as well since it did come out 15 years after the original.

I'm not one to not like music from broadway and I feel lots of guilt giving this one star but the people who sing this just aren't good. I love the music but the singers, well, you get it.

i guess this is good, but this musical is really weird. i saw it. the wolf is, like, a total creeper and the scene with little red riding hood right after that is really awkward.
  • very good

While I do think that the original broadway cast recoding is the best recording of into the woods this recording of the new broadway cast is also a very good one and I do recomend it.

How did this musical win best revival? Basically this does not compare to the original and never will, and Bernadette Peters kicks Vanessa Willaims's butt as the witch any day!

This is my favorite musical of all time and i have to say that i did not enjoy this recording as much as the original. it sounds to as if they did not take the meaning behind the words seriously. I tend to agree with all of the negative reviews of this cast. I read one review where the writer said that it was because many people grew up with the original cast, but i can say that i did not and i thoroughly enjoy the original more than this. This is not meant to bash this recording by any means i just belive that this take on the music is shallow and well, fairytale like.

i was in this musical last year my high school did it i was snow white i love this version vanessa williams does the witch part alot more better than bernadtte peters i mean i like her version but vanessa william's version is better. my favorite songs is i have to say well all of them. i was paired with rapunzel's prince and me and him are really good friends now. some of my friends tell me that me and him make a good pair on stage and should be paired up again if we both get parts and get a part that pairs up. thats how good we were i hope whoever gets this enjoys the music i cant stop listening to the music i love it

this is one of the best musicals in broadway history. it is so amazing. not only is the music great, but the deepness and symbolism might really make this show the level of greatness it is. so the plot is that there's all these fairy tales that everybody knows like cinderella, little red riding hood, and jack and the beanstalk. but then there is the story of the baker and his wife which is the story that really ties all of these fairy tales together. the baker and his wife want a child, but they are placed on a spell by a wicked witch that prevents them from having a child. they have to go on a journey that takes them "into the woods" to find the cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold. this witch is the witch in the story of rapunzel that ties in with the story of the baker and his wife. she is the charactor that really holds up the show. at times this show is very, very funny and clever, and at times it is sad, and at times it is soooo deep. it all gets confusing at the beginning because in the prologue they start out telling the story in a song which goes really fast. but after a bit you will catch on and you might even recognize a lot of the symbolism. at first, this show seems cute, but not amazing, but really, deep inside, it is amazing. here are the top ten best songs: (but they're all great) Finale - Children Will Listen Prologue: Into the Woods Lament No One Is Alone Stay With Me Last Midnight Hello, Little Girl Agony Any Moment / Moments In the Woods It Takes Two Honerable Mentions: No More I Guess This Is Goodbye / Maybe They're Magic So, at my school we are doing this show. And I wasn't sure about at first. They had an intrest meeting. And they explained the plot and played a little bit of the music. I thought at first that it was going to be nothing the previous show I was in at a big theater (which was Les Mis, which is obviously also one of the best shows on broadway) but i was wrong. it is almost as good. if not just as good. after i bought a few songs on the soundtrack, i started listening to them and i started to really, really like them. So i bought a few more and sooner or later i had the whole soundtrack and now i love it so much. it is a wonderful show. Lastly, if you're wondering what some of the symbolism is, the title, "Into the Woods" symbolizes the journey you have to take in life.

some of the songs are pretty good, but the vocals aren't stellar. my school did this musical and some of our leads were better than these.
