  • Nothing like it

There is absolutely NOTHING like this in the music field. She has found a niche and it is beautiful. Her voice is so pure and lovely. A lesser singer could never upstage Lou Reed on his own song, but she has with Perfect Day. While Lou's is incredible and full of feeling, Susan's is lithe, sweet and piercing. The entire album is so completely set apart. Just listen to a few and you will be won over.

Always soothing. A pleasure to listen to. I never get tired of listening to her clear, soft voice.

  • A Beautiful Voice

Ms Boyle has such a pure sweet sound. My only criticism is that her vocals are almost secondary to the background music. Her voice seems a step softer than the music. Her voice doesn't pop the way it should though out. another reviewer called the performances uninspired. I think that is a good way to put it. The music is good, the voice is good, but it lacks the emotion and feeling it should have.

Weird! Susan Boyle has a beautiful voice. However, I wonder if she really understands what some of the non-holiday selections are really about. If you read the liner notes, she does admit that "Hallelujah" is an abstract choice. But she presents "Don't Dream it's Over" as a party song, yet sings it so slowly and sadly that I can't figure out what kind of party's she's going to. And "Perfect Day" is a song about a breakup. Bizarre choices. I'm all for abstract choices and irony, but I don't get this.

Susan Boyle has returned again with 'The Gift' which seems like it should be a christmas album, but it's not really. Again, ole' Susan starts out the album with another cover, which turns out to be Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day' which once again is ruined by Susan Boyle's slow, old touch to it. The second track is yet another cover, which is 'Hallelujah' which is much too over the top for what it is, she just glams it up so much with the background singers, & everything. In the end, 'The Gift' is another Susan Boyle album that really isn't that great.
