This mind sound cheese but, Neurologically one of the best albums to open channels inside your mind. The elements presented here aren't of words but what your mind creates that you look for those words. Its the best experience ever!!!
  • We need "Stone In Focus"!

This album is one that you really don't listen to with your mind, but your emotions. You may get freaked out at times or even bored as it runs about 2 and a half hours but overall it is a listening experience that may just change your life. I like the reference to Radiohead's "Kid A" that one review had as the track "Treefingers" from that cd reminded me almost of something on here. All in all, this album is a good one, though it is time consuming and should probably not be listened to in the dark for the most part. In my opinion it is best when you are exhausted or in pain, just a time you need to crash. And we need Stone In Focus, it is one amazing track that I think almost has changed my life.
  • A creepy, but rewarding journey

I had been seaching for an album like this ever since I bought Radiohead's "Kid A". An album that had great atmsophere and soundscapes that would carry you away. This album delivered all that I had hoped and more. There are songs on this album that are downright creepy, you feel Itunes messed up and downloaded a Thriller movies soundtrack...and perhaps thats what makes this album even better. It is crazy to me that there are tracks on this album that would work perfectly in movies. What Aphex Twin has done is essentially made a new sort of Electonica/classical genre with this album. This is not for anyone looking for beats, or for anyone looking for a rocking album...this is for people that will appreciate weirdness, and maybe feeling a little uncomfortable at times but it pays off for those who are truely looking to open their minds to different and unusual music.

Do not listen to this album, turn the volume about halfway up (so you can hear what is going on around you), and go about your day with it playing. Don't think about it, just let it play.

This album was once described as "the voice of the Monolith from 2001 a space odyssey". That about sums it up for me.
  • Best Aphex album but needs "stone in focus"

Love this album. His best and one of my all time faviortes of anyone album. But you must get the version with the song called "stone in focus". its on the vinal album but try to find it somewhere. The more i listen to that song the more im amazed by it. It seems like a simple song at first but the more you hear it (especially with good headphones) the more complex and amazing it sounds.

Before you listen to this, keep in mind that the majority of AFX's sounds and instrumental devices have been hand made (he literally built his own electronic instruments as an engineering major in college), and he was able to arrange the tracks without the ease of the audio editing programs we enjoy today. Even though it's comparatively old in relation to the budding downtempo and idm genre, it's still one of the more interesting electronic albums you could listen to. He pretty much set the pace with this one.
  • Very good.

Not what you would expect from Aphex Twin? Why not? This album further proves his musical talent cannot be type cast. Close your eyes and listen.
  • Truly amazing...

Richard D. James creates an amazing variety of different audio landscapes that still sound new, fascinating, and preserved to this day. Be prepared to cross into unheard sounds, and drift off into a dream world. As eerie as some tracks may sound, the album yet manages to be warm and welcoming. Listen and drift off like a feather through nature.
