The singles from this album blew me away. Eventually, the album as a whole won me over. To this day it is one of my favorites

My only disappointment is that the iTunes version didn't have the documentary that went with the expanded remastered reissue. Other CDs have that. Still rich and full sounding and I heard Alan Wilder talk about it favorably. He is still missed and regretttably not returning after all these years.

I always come back to this album and SOFAD. So many great songs from the dark groove of It’s No Good, to Martins lush crooning on Home, loves sting on Surrender (amazing), the sitar on Freestate, Insight, The Love Thieves, and Only When I Lose Myself. I pretty much named every song on this album. A DM fan must!
  • One of their Top Three releases, EVER

Easily one of their top 3 releases among their lengthy canon of work. It's not one to pick tracks from; it MUST be listened to from start to finish. So pick it up, set aside a nice, stoney evening, and let its majesty unfurl itself before you as you dine and then draw uo that nice hot bath for two. Don't forget the candles.
  • DP does jazz

This is probably one of their more underrated albums, but it’s a favorite of mine. There’s a jazz vibe to this album, a definite flavor that is not on their other records. It’s an edge from Martin’s guitar riffs and Dave’s vocals that is sort of an extension of Violator but unique at the same time. “Home” is a great track that sort of encapsulates the sound, and “It’s No Good” is the hook that all DP albums have. Highly recommend a listen!

Too bad I never gave this album a real shot back in the day...this album is way cool and is up there with Violater! I'm glad I have this deluxe edition...the live tracks are phenomenal and the extras are no fillers! Every song is a gem!
  • It's (Really) Good

Of all the post-Alan Wilder albums, this is my favorite. Producer Tim Simenon brought a sensiible approach in melding the rockiness of "Songs of Faith & Devotion" with the electronic groove of DM's previous albums like "Violator" and "Music For The Masses." Highlights of the album (for me) are "It's No Good", "Home", and "Sister Of Night." It's a shame the band was unable to tour the full album at the time of its release due to well-documented health challenges. Two thumbs up.
