I love this album. To tell the truth, I didn't really like Darkthrone when they were strictly a black metal band. I think they sound better as a punk/metal band. Best song is Bad Attitude.

I personally think the way they pulled Punk and Black/Death metal together in this CD sounds awesome!!!! Really good... The only... not metal song is Bad Attitude. But I still like that song.

...made a good point; Darkthrone has always had their roots deep in the "Punk" scene and this is evident even on their earliest recordings when they were trying to be a Death Metal band. The only thing I highly disagree with is that now they're trying to sound like the Ramones, that couldn't be farther from the truth. While songs like "Canadian Metal" may have a bit more of a weird/clean vocal thing going on, it's not all bad. I will admit that their cover of "Bad Attitude" threw me off at first but I got to appreciate it a bit once comparing it the Testor's version, it seems more like Darkthrone is paying homage to the band more than anything; if that's the case why would you ruin it by putting your "own twist" on it? All in all a 5 star rating is deserved for "Hedninger Fra Helvete" alone, that is a phenomenal track that really reminds me of something that would've been on "Hate Them" or "Sardonic Wrath". It's nihilistic and raw delivery is flawless, about 2:06 in there's a really nice break that sounds very reminiscent to the "Under a Funeral Moon" days and it just displays Darkthrone at their best. Plus, the little change-up at 3:50 really ties the track together nicely, not to mention the little climbing bass line towards the end adds a very nice atmospheric touch to the suspended chords in the background. Classic.

People love to talk about how the new Darkthrone is like black metal punk. Guess what? Darkthrone always had a HUGE punk influence to their sound. The thing is, before they sounded like Discharge, and now they sound like the Ramones. BARF
