If you like the work, like the movie, you will love the music!
Superb Album

A truly great album, too bad Itunes misses the boat as an attempt to find out more about the great Mexican musicians on this album is beyond the capacities of Itunes' inventory and its outdated search engine which misses more than it delivers. Outside of Chavela Vargas, it delivers virtually no usable results, or misdirects you toward tejano squeezebox bands. As with many TV stations whose weather reporting stops abruptly at the Mexican border, Itunes ability to present a more diversified music menu once you cross the Mexican Border is ossified and stale.
Dreamy and Heart-wrenching

A beautiful soundtrack that captures the emotions of Mexico. My heart tugs when I hear several of the songs such as Solo Tu or Alcoba Azul. The life of Frida was painfully expressed through painting and the soundtrack does an excellent job of supporting this surreal-like reality. As vibrant and colorful as the movie.

Beautiful. I'm just sad that the soundtrack is on iTunes, but not the movie. Doesn't make sense. :(
Best Sound track ever

Just listen the Alcoba Azul song... and the harp sounds in the Elliot Goldenthal themes is just amazing. You never get tired of it.
Mexican Folk close to its best

The Album is heart warming. With Mexican songs I grew up listening to since I was a child. It includes the different styles of Mexican music -- Mexico is a multicultural country with different and sometimes contrasting music styles. Son Jarocho (Veracruz, Mexico) is even presented here with El Conejo, by los Cojolites. having the Jaranas organized and sound like humming harmonics when the singing begins. Lila Downs (from Oaxaca, my land) herself sings and and presents to you a modern version of the Southern Mexican flavor. An album for artists and those who appreciate culture from a multicultural nation. Enjoy
Great Album, Poor Delivery

Why is this album on iTunes if you can't buy any of the songs? It's priced with the option to gift it to someone, but there's only a row of "Album Only" phrases where the "Buy Song" links usually are. This isn't the first time I've seen this either. If iTunes is going to sell the music then SELL the music- don't put half an album up for purchase or display an entire album with no option to buy; it's very irritating.
One of the few...

This soundrack is one of the few that actually captures the essence of the movie. I think Frida, herself, would've approved!
Brilliantly Provocative...

This soundtrack is filled with songs that are both haunting and provocative... It is inspirational like the film it accompanies, and anyone who truly appreciates music, and art, and culture, should cherish this...
