If your a fan and I am you will absolutely love this album. Her voice is in full blossom and it is the start of her collaboration with Michel Legrand who is obviously in love with her sound, who could blame him. The songs are all worthy of her attention. You must have this recording if you care about Striesand at all. Enough said.

As the All-Music Guide stated, this eighth album by Barbra isn't sung in all French, but the material herein has French origin. The opener "Free Again" is performed here in English, it's French lyric can be heard on the preceding "Color Me Barbra," which was being recorded the same time this lp was. It took Barbra a whopping nine months to perfect this lp, and her demand for perfection can be heard throughout. The opening track would find a home on her "Greatest Hits" lp and it is deserving, it's one of her finest performances. The standard "Autumn Leaves" is beautiful, "I Wish You Love" which is normally arranged as a slow ballad Barbra delivers as an almost Broadway type show tune. "Once Upon A Summertime" is arranged as it's meant to be, a slow ballad fully orchestrated. The song choice over all is typical of Barbra's early sixties output, pop songs and standards all beautifully sung, the arrangements on this lp really make it stand out however and the mastering of this cd should serve to all recording engineers how to master a cd.

Im so glad that I found this album again! Michel Legrand and Barbra make beautiful music together. This is a rare find!! I had the CD once and truly loved it, but someone stole it... Either that's how good it is or that's how bad my friends are. I suggest that any fan of Barbra should go ahead and buy the whole album. C'est si bon!!

This is not an album to be overlooked- it has some of her finest vocals. Her rendition of I Wish You Love is brilliant- heartbreaking as well as electrfying as only Streisand could pull off. The standout songs for me are: I've Been Here, Love And Learn, Once Upon A Summertime, and Martina.
