Reviews

  • A very melodic B.O.C. record

No two Blue Oyster Cult records sound the same...that is, in part, why they are such a legendary, and revered, outfit. "Mirrors" is a great late-70s rock LP. Terrific arrangements, dynamic performances, great vocal harmonies and some great, and some merely good, tunes. This is not the thunderous boogie band of the early 70's, this the post-"Agents of Fortune" B.O.C. and in fine form. To my ears, "Mirrors" is more similar to the record that followed it "Cultosaurus Erectus" rather than their preceding LPs. In a sense, I feel it is a transitional record moving towards the brilliant "Fire of Unknown Origin". Every record in a great artist's catalog is transitional...this is their work, created from nothing with great effort over a period of time. Each LP is a representation of the fruit of their labors. "In Thee" is gorgeous and sincere..."Moon Crazy" is just plain fun. "I Am the Storm" is classic B.O.C.. While the production is a bit bland and there is no A-level B.O.C. material on the level of "Don't Fear the Reaper" or "Career of Evil", it remains a fine record. Blue Oyster Cult is one the most prolific hard rock bands of the rock era, a band that has consistently produced high-quality work. This fact in itself should indicate that "Mirrors" is worthy of your time and attention.

Mirrors, Spectres and Imaginos are my three favorite BOC albums. The song, "The Great Sun Jester", is worth the price of admission!

This album, should be called The Best of B.O.C., I have enjoyed this album from start to finish ever since I first got it, many years ago. And this album continues to rock on, this is album is more "Pop", than the "Rock" B.O.C. usually gives us. But to me this is the best album they ever done, if they would put in Godzilla, and Dont fear the Reaper, you would have the best of both Rock, and Pop. I cant really say which song is my favorite, because I love them all. Buy This album and you soon agree that this is one great album, from start to finish. Keith L.
  • There is a reason it's called 'Errors'

It's just not on the same level as BOC, T&M, STs, CE, and FoUO. Some people will enjoy it, but it is generally accepted as being one of the Cult's worst outings. (The worst being Club Ninja)
  • Worthy Effort....!!

..just how good this album is. I was in 10th grade and listened to it countless times while trying different things and...[see kid rocks' All Summer Long]. BOC really made me think outside the norm and deepen the process. I really think they are extremely underrated as composers and musicians and they had incredible influence on contemporaries and future musicians.[I hear ghosts of Buck in Weezer]. A must have for nostalgia or newcomers. Although you don't need to listen to every word to enjoy the music it does hold interest for those who care to delve into such things. Thanx Eric, Donald, Albert, Allen and Joe!

Mirrors. Best for viewing what's behind us. Kinda like this album, ain't it? Best viewed after it's time is past. Great BOC album, one of my favorites of all time.

A very good cross-section of input from all members of the band. Good Rock, a Great slow song (thanks Buck), and some Sci-Fi thrown in for good measure. It bounces around some. This is a BOC fan's album. And Im sure there were no BOC fans that were disappointed with this effert.
  • Great Blue Oyster Cult!

The one, two, three punch of The Great Sun Jester, In Thee, & Mirrors rivals anything else that came out that at that time.
