There are not very many voices out there that can even compare to you Barbra.
  • Great single, OK album.

Another candidate for weakest Streisand album ever, although the title track is gorgeous and one of her best singles ever. The bland version of You Don't Bring Me Flowers found here makes you realize the song was meant to be recorded as a duet, and was thankfully - buy that version, skip this one.

The song that goes unnoticed. The emotions, that voice. By far one of the best. This album reminds me of my childhood and singing from 1 to 10 with my mom.

Weak lp or not, the remastered sound quality on this cd is damn good for the 80's. Sonic enhancement was a newborn in the late 80's and this cd benefitted from that effort. The title track and the lp's closer "Songbird" is amazing and worthy of inclusion on her "Essentials" set but was overlooked in favor of the re-recorded duet "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with Neil Diamond, the original Barbra solo version is here and it really works better as a duet. "Tomorrow" is THAT song from the Broadway play "Annie" but instead of covering it like the annoying anthem it is, Barbra turns down the tempo and vocal volume to morph it into a sweet song of optimism. Remember that although Barbra released this album at the height of disco she refrained from that trend to release this album of soft rock, she would give in to disco in 1979.

This album reminds me of being a kid.. My mother playind the album, not cd, THE ALBUM, all the time.. SONGBIRD and YOU DON'T BRING ME FLOWERS are amazing vocal triumphs. Both songs are beautiful and sad for very different reasons. I am glad this is available on itunes now.
