This 1979 album went top 10 and contained the #1 disco diva duet with Donna Summer, “Enough Is Enough (No More Tears)”, plus a smaller ballad hit “Kiss Me In The Rain”. As the other reviewers noted, this is a theme album revolving around water. Mostly ballads done well. The other uptempo tracks haven’t aged well, namely “I Ain’t Gonna Cry Tonight “; “Splish Splash” is fun in a campy way. My favorites are her take on “Come Rain or Come Shine”, the aforementioned “Kiss Me In The Rain, and “Niagara”. I think Barbra is close to her vocal peak here and on her next album, Guilty.

This lp is the last for Barbra of the 70's and it contains her huge duet with Donna Summer "No More Tears." Given the long album length one would think it would be considered the extended mix, the edit is almost five minutes long, kind of long for a radio mix. The extended version clocks in at almost twelve minutes and I hear tell of an even longer mix that ran for nearly a half-hour. That's a little ridicules. The album version of the previous lp, "The Main Event" title track, Barbra's first foray into straight-ahead disco was about twelve minutes itself. That aside this album has a water theme and produced another hit "I Ain't Gonna Cry Tonight" and the All-Music Guide stated this lp's closer "Kiss Me In The Rain" just missed the top forty. This cd was released in the 80's and is AAD so it's an analog transfer and not remastered as we've come to know the term.

This concept album of is a collection of songs that contain water, rain or tears and is a good, if not exceptional theme to explore Streisand's steel-belted soprano. The title track, On Rainy Afternoons, Kiss Me In The Rain and the #1 smash hit she sang with Donna Summer, Enough Is Enough are enough to make this candy to the ears. It pales, however, in comparison to her next album, the legendary collaboration with Barry Gibb, Guilty--this still remains her most fulfilling, vocally assured pop album.
