Good. Not her best.

I love Laura, but I have to be honest here. This ep was underwhelming. So much hype only for the ep to have one non-single. Unexciting. Also, Dance with You and I Wanna Know What It’s Like don’t fit very well with the rest of the songs. They really could’ve been left off to make room for other songs. The preview song was a cute idea, but its impact is weak. You listen to it once and then it’s like, now what? What do you do with 1/3 of a song saved on your phone? On the positive side, I applaud Laura for the gems on the ep. breakup song is one of Laura’s best songs hands down and deserves so much attention. I also appreciate the vulnerability in Worst Kind of Hurt and Smoke Alarm. Smoke Alarm in particular is very creatively done, one of Laura’s strongest lyrical concepts. Laura was very busy filming an intense acting project while finalizing this ep, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she was overextending herself and ended up rushing parts of it. As a body of work, it just isn’t as strong as her other eps. Hoping the debut album is more cohesive and complete.
