John Mayer has proven in this album that he is one of the greatest Blues artists in the world. As an original musician, lyricist, guitarist, vocal technician, and overall performer, he has successfully conveyed his soul and thoughts through his music in the John Mayer Trio. His solo in "Gravity" is particularly subduing, and it made me fall even more in love with the guitar as an aesthetically musical instrument. Well done to Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan for helping produce one of the greatest original albums in Blues history. Bravo.

A little different than Mayer's earlier stuff, this really shows off his appreciation for the blues and is a clinic on the blues guitar. Seems like a great, intimate, live show in your headphones/speakers. Worth the purchase.

By far John Mayer's best live album. While I like his music, I think this is the "purest" album to date and I think Mayer should stick to a path that emphasises blues over pop. He's a blues musician that masquerades as a pop artist to sell records. If he is true to himself and his roots as a blues/rock and roll musician, then he can better define who he is along with his "sound." As for the album, buy it before you buy any other John Mayer album.

I am a pretty die hard Blues fan, and don't mind John Mayer's more poppy stuff. I wouldn't strictly call this blues, more of a blues/rock feel. It has strong leanings towards Stevie Ray Vaughn and maybe even some George Thorogood in parts. Its the raw edge of Mayer, the one I think until this recording was lingering behind the curtain. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with the emotional delivery, and excellent musicianship. Mayer is in amazing company here, and he stands up to the test. Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino are both grandmasters, and John is clearly honored to be jamming with them. The standouts for me here are 'I Got a Woman' which is an amazingly close Ray Charles impersonation on the vocals from John. It's also interesting to hear Gravity and Vultures before the were released on Continuum. The groove/jam/blues tracks are all great too - excellent music for a party or a cruise down the highway. Worth checking out if you're a Mayer fan. or like a little blues-tinged-rock.

Amazing album, John Mayer Trio is amazing, but I do agree with others. It really isn't too much of a "blues" album, so I think categorizing it under Pop was a good move on iTunes' part. It could be seen as blues, but it feels to structured for me to be blues. The most bluesy song on here is Out of My Mind, and again, it feels to structured like it's being played straight from a sheet of music. If you want real JMT blues, I recommend Where The Light Is: Live in LA. More track lists, it includes acoustic set, regular JM set, and JMT with most of the songs on this album. I recommend buying Try, Another Kind of Green, I Got A Woman, and Where The Light Is, and you won't regret it.
