  • Great Score Despite Faults

I’m looking at the Album separate from the movie. The movie obviously has some issues, but the album has MUCH fewer. The album is amazing, I just really miss “Good For You,” “Anybody Have A Map,” and “Disappear” from the original album. Other than that, It’s pretty great.
  • The Original Broadway Cast is better

Having seen both the original show and the movie, the Broadway cast version is much better. The movie cut some, IMO, critical songs, which diminshed the role of Evan's mother - bad idea. The new number, "The Anonymous Ones", calls too much attention to a secondary character and isn't a very good song anyway. Agree with those who think Platt should have stayed away from doing this, but there was no way he was going to do that.
  • Great movie!

I really enjoyed the movie. The music and story is very touching. My only complaint is that Colton Ryan wasn’t cast as the lead. His performance was spectacular. Especially his song, “A Little Closer.” I have no idea why Ben Platt didn’t give this role up to him or another amateur actor so that they could’ve had their breakthrough role. He was and looked way too old to play a 17 year old.

The soundtrack is incredible, the movie was amazing as well. Congrats to the whole crew! Can’t wait to purchase the blu ray!

I’ve been looking forward to the film adaptation (along with the new soundtrack, obviously) for years now, and I think the waiting definitely payed off. I’ll probably end up coming back to the original broadway cast recording more than this whenever I wanna listen to DEH songs, but I still thought they did a really good job with the film versions! “A Little Closer” is a very welcome addition to the movie too, and something that might’ve actually improved upon the end of the play. I also loved hearing Kaitlyn’s versions of Zoe’s songs!

Even though some people will dislike this, I think it’s nice. Stop hating and learn to be more open to others.
  • Why is this middle aged man playing a high school kid
