  • Expected Better

Huge fan of We Like It Here and GroundUp. Lately they just seem comfortable being an average jazz band. Not pushing themselves when it comes to writing music. Still much better than most music being out there these days. Still when it comes to Snarky Puppy, a huge disappointment.
  • This album is just okay.

I was really excited to preorder this album. I have listened to it three times already and it is just not very memorable. Sorry, I still love Snarky Puppy but have to be honest.

Thanks Michael for bending more genres!! 🎵🔛. Update-now that it’s released:Great stuff. Think Michael League is alone in being able to blend synth, piano, classic guitar and strings into a great song!

You can hear better music in an elevator or dentist office. Where is the IMPROVISATION? Sounds like a tight high school jazz ensemble from the rich suburbs who havent yet been taught how to swing or to IMPROVISE. The talent level of this band dropped 90% when Corey Henry split.
  • Darkest album yet

Love the dark tone this has in contrast to albums like we like it here and sylva. Overall, love this direction.
  • Reusing Ideas

I love Snarky Puppy and they’ve got a unique sound I’ve yet to see a group match. That being said this is not like some of their previous albums which had such a force of strength and passion to them. The album is exceptional featuring some great mastering, great sound, great tone; I just keep hearing ideas used in Culcha Vulcha which used ideas from previous albums such as Sylva. I think reusing assets is fine, but it’s too noticeable in some instances. In my opinion Snarky Puppy’s best albums are the live studio performances but this album is alright. Chonks is aggressive and motivational, and Coven has a similar ballad feel to it the way that Kite from We Like It Here has open and airy solos. All in all I wish Snarky Puppy would start pushing hard to reinvigorate their music because they’re one of the greatest collective of Grade- A musicians. Also here’s to hoping Sylva Vol. 2 is in the works.
  • Spectacular and Deep

This album certainly has the booty-shakers that SP is known for but this album is deeper and more complex than that. Slap on the headphones and soak this one in for a while. Much like Sylva, this one took a while for me to fully appreciate what Mr. League and Co. we’re delivering but like Sylva, once realized, it is just spectacular. Thanks again guys for delivering not what we wanted, but what we didn’t know we needed.

Could be better, but so could everything else in life. The Bad Kids song is my most favorite. Not a bad choice to buy.
  • I’m really enjoying it.

Love this band! I have been listening to it non-stop all day. Every song is so good. My favorites so far are Chonks, Bigly Strictness and Even Us (so beautiful).
  • Okay but not great.

This album is bland and uninspired. Gone are the days of where Snarky Puppy put out dynamic albums like “We like it here”, “Ground Up” and “Bring Us the Bright”. Even the last time I saw them live was lack luster. It’s seem like they’re getting too comfortable and not pushing the envelope. Hope they take more chances with future releases.
