Sleeps in the dark, shaves in the park, tries to save paper.

Sounds like if Weezer got hungover and threw up on Aphex Twin. Love the “We’re all gonna die someday and nothing is real” vibe. Perfect.

I’ll admit, I listened to mainly the big 3. However, I always respected this bands resilience in not wanting to sell out and make radio hits again. As an artist who is grappling with the same idea as I head into college, I respect that. I know I’ll have to work for suits and I want to open my own studio one day to try and break the corporate chain, so listening to MGMT is like my own little soundtrack to my resistance of selling out. Sure you gotta make a living, but the art and experience of it is the most important thing and I respect mgmt for sticking to their guns. This album is a middle ground I think, with some catchy songs and wide audience friendly stuff, but I’ll always respect their sound and how they care about the music more than hits and money. The album is great and I highly recommend it.

Honestly, thought it was pretty garbage at first. Just did not vibe with it really well, and ditched it. Came back a few years later and I guess im in a more suited musical state. Love it now. This and the single that came out more recently.

I personally loved the Congratulations album a lot, and it feels like they have moved more towards pop and I don't think it fits well. The songs feel really repetitive, which I dislike, and maybe it is just because I’m not a pop fan. Their previous work was so much different and felt more creative. Pretty meh album in my opinion.
