Reviews

  • New life for the band

I’m not great with expressing myself, so I’ll just say that the addition of Julian has breathed new life into an already stellar band. This is absolutely my second favorite real estate record - easily surpassing Atlas, and holing up right behind days.
  • Amazing guitar

The guitar work is evocative of early Fleetwood Mac guitarist Danny Kirwan. And that is an amazing thing. It is so damned reassuring that music can still be crafted and not just manufactured.

I have listened to this entire album all the way through more than the amount of reviews it has received thus far. A cohesive whole that is worth delicate and careful attention. Love Real Estate. Absolutely love this album.

I LOVE it. I can't seem to determine which song is my favorite. I think it might be Holding Pattern. I can't stop listening to this album. The music, lyrics, change in style and careful thoughtful composition are typical Real Estate. So glad to put new music into my mix.

What a fantastic effort by real estate. This album is one of the best of the year. Not one song really stands out, but all the songs work together to form a masterpiece. Highly recommend.
  • Not so great...

Looking forward to this one, not as good as I expected. A few good ones, Stained Glass is the best. Guess I got spoiled by Martin Courtney's solo album...

Even though I miss Matt dearly, this is a fabulous album. Very well-thought out; produced but not overly so; layered beautifully, and the composition is great. MIght not have quite as much depth as previous albums, but I love this album regardless because I love this band. Anyone whom calls themselves a fan of Real Estate should own this album.

They give you the best Days and Atlas has to offer and build on it. Gonna be an epic record for Spring & Summer 2017 - this will be played during mid-to-late afternoon revelry. Well done -- hard to match or beat your previous work, but you did.

I personally consider Real Estate's previous effort, "Atlas", in my "Top 5 Desert Island" records. It's a classic that I still enjoy immensely. "Had To Hear", "Past Lives" and "Horizon" are songs that I'll never tire of. "In Mind", however, is just okay. It's certainly not a bad record per say but there's an element of Real Estate's previous work that isn't here. Some of these songs seem overly "mathy" at times when they shouldn't be and they're not as memorable as Real Estate's previous work. "In Mind" reminds me alot of Martin Courtney's solo record. It's solid in many aspects, but Courtney's arrangements seemed to carry on forever which made repeat listens more of a chore.
