I have to give this CD credit because it was the first CD i ever heard by Darkthrone and that's what got me into them... Back when I was 12... I LOVED it then and I still LIKE it now, but it isn't as good as their old stuff. Good CD.

Honestly, it's worth it just for the lead track and the Souxie cover.

While most fans prefer darkthrone's earlier sound, they will not be disiapointed. This album rocks just as hard as Transilvanian Hunger.

The dark, sardonic humor is at the forefront of this very surprising, refreshing and crusty old-school slab of Venom/Frost/Bathory inspired black metal. If you found Dimmu's "Antikrist" rerecord downright antiseptic, and have tired of the electronica/symphonic stylings of third-wave black metal, give this EP a spin. In my book Darkthrone never disappoint, but this release is gushing with excitement, and burning with a renewed passion I haven't heard in their music since the '90s. If this is any indication, their forthcoming album "The Cult is Alive" should be one of the most promising albums to come out of Norway for years. The clean-ish vocalled cover of Siouxsie & The Banshies' "Love in a Void" is worth the price alone!

If you are purchasing this looking for the second wave black metal sound you might be disappointed. This one carries a very old school black metal sound. Think of the original black metal bands such as Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost, and early Sodom. Thats what this is more along the lines of. I grew up listening to a lot of the early black metal and thrash so this is a fun album for me but if you are expecting 90's era Darkthrone black metal then you won't really find it on this album.

I was realy exited to hear brand new darkthrone, and I have to say its not as black as I had hoped. this whole EP just sounds like old venom.
