  • A true songwriter’s album

I know this album was released in 2018, but in 2022 it’s easy to say good music is lacking everywhere. What I love most about this album is it showcases Devin as a songwriter, which he is. It shows he can write, perform and produce music across different genres. When listening to this full album you will not hear the same melody or rhythm. It’s truly unique. It gives you a sense of connection to what he was trying to convey when writing each song. This is a great buy if you truly love music and the message it’s intended to deliver.

After hearing Devin’s Christmas song, I was intrigued. So, I searched for him on iTunes and I’m so glad I did. Having never been a huge country music person, this album is changed my opinion. It’s so amazing. I love Devin’s sound, his voice is so smooth, and lyrics are so well done. Okay, it has a pop feel, maybe that’s why I like. But, I’m here for it.

You copied Katy Perry’s Dark Horse. Her’s came out 5 years before this pathetic excuse for an album. And all your fans are just retarded 10 year old girls who waste their lives listening to JB and you. Y’all need to grow up and listen to a REAL country star: Kelly Clarkson. Maybe it’s not too late to save all the corrupted souls that have been exposed to the unholiness “Devin Dawson” has brought into the world -3-

I love this album! I found Devin on insta and fell in love with his sound right away. I’ve listened to the album more times than I can count and it’s really a timeless, feel good album for me. As a previous review said, I dare you to just find one favorite on this album. Every track has been my favorite at some point. Highly recommended, easy listening music!

I was raised on country music, love it more than any other genre. From the first time I heard “All On Me” and the fantastic play with words, I started following this artist. Now with “Dark Horse” I like him even more ( if that were possible, lol ). Smart, not just clever, lyrics matched with the perfect melodies for them, sung with just the right feeling...one could listen to this entire CD repeatedly and not get tired of listening. “Asking for a Friend” should be the next chart topper after “Dark Horse” ( ether version) . One of the best ‘asking for a second chance songs’ I’ve heard in quite awhile. Don’t just buy songs off this CD—treat yourself to the entire thing, sit back, and take yourself on a wonderful musical journey. You may just learn something about yourself along the way. The man himself is quite a guy—had a concert benefiting those who lost so much in the CA fires. So many things about this artist to touch the heart and smooth the soul.

Not enough country to call it a country album.

I was at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant in La Plata, MD and the song “All on Me” came on. I used my Shazam to ID it and knew I was buying this album. I love great music. I don’t care the genre. Some people SAY they listen to all kinds of music, but I love a great sound and great lyrics regardless of genre. Devin Dawson delivers that. I didn’t grow up with Country music being up front and center on my iPod, but I have a fair amount in my collection. That being the case, I didn’t develop my ear to the point where I can claim “purist” status. I just want it to sound good. Again, this delivers. I’ve read some of the the reviews that screech about this not being country and they couldn’t be more correct. This is pop music with a serious country flavor. That said, I’m not mad. I’m a true rap music aficionado and I can’t stand these new wave artists, they are so generic and watered down it’s insane. So I feel where Devin’s critics are coming from. But again, The guy makes a really great song. I’m just waiting for his Jay Z collaboration. LOL!! That would really blow the minds of his critics.

As a songwriter myself, I will say this is one of the most well written and performed songs I have heard in my 49 years of life. I can’t stop listening.
